Twelve hours of insanity
Nov. 14th, 2002 06:48 pmMy father fell again this morning, waking me up after only three hours of sleep. This was after I'd spent most of yesterday helping him to and from the bathroom or picking him up off the floor. Faced with the prospect of sitting by his bedside 24 hours, I finally gave up and got him down to the hospital. Not quite sure where his med levels are, but he's sore from falls and can't get around the house (he's normally quite ambulatory) and I can't take care of him like this.
So, from 6:30 until 10:30, I was down at the hospital. Then I tried to go in to work some, was there from 11 to 12 before I had to leave ... just couldn't do more today. I came home and fell into bed.
Two and a half hours later, my other brother wakes me up because for some reason, the hospital wants to know what meds he's taken, when his last trip to the head was... (As far as the first, I thought I gave them a list this morning, and as for what he has in him NOW, isn't that what blood testing is for?)
So I drag myself upstairs and take care of that, and find out that my sister-in-law (who I knew from talking to my brother earlier is due) had gone into labor.
... "I can't deal," I say, and go back to sleep for another three hours, waking about an hour ago. I called my brother and found out that it was apparently a false labor; no nephew today.
