Good news

I just got a call from my brother - my father is out of the hospital and going back to his home. It seems that the clot/obstruction was actually of the mucus sort, and he finally cleared it through coughing. (He has the beginnings of emphyzema and a narrow trachea from all his smoking.) So he's breathing easier now and so are we.
