One of the songs that played on the office muzak at my (now former) place of work was "Knock Three Times". So I got to listen to it a few times, and... damn is it creepy. (And I'm saying this as a man.)
The singer is a guy who's convinced himself that he's fallen in love (or lust) with his downstairs neighbor, despite their actual interaction being limited to banging on the floor or plumbing. And on the basis of this deep, meaningful connection, he wants her to indicate her interest in hooking up with him. At least he claims to offer her a chance to refuse... but if she does, what are her real options? To move?
When was this sort of thing ever considered okay? (Oh, right, 1970, the year of my birth. Yaay.)
