A minor modern marvel

I'm heating up some garlic bread in the apartment's electric oven right now. This oven requires no stoking, no ignition, no venting, and precious little tending or cleaning. It heats up quickly to almost any temperature desired and stays there, varying within no more than a few degrees, for hours. It also has four surfaces on top which can be set to different temperatures, and a built-in clock.

And this is old tech, mature and increasingly obsolete. I do most of my daily food prep in something that doesn't even use heat, per se, but microwave bombardment.

Truly this is an age of wonders.
