Jul. 25th, 2002 07:43 pmWent to visit my father twice today, a couple of hours apart, but he still hasn't woken up yet. They're giving him the meds he needs by IV, though, so it's just a matter of time. He did get up and go to the bathroom while I was there, surprising the nurse a little (in that he wasn't wobbly or weak even in his groggy state, just very focused and running on long habit).
Being home alone is weird. I expect him to come climbing up the stairs any moment now for a cup of coffee or to tell me something he just saw on TV. I'm a solitary creature and tend to prickle a bit at these "intrusions", but after two years of living with him and his quirks, I've kind of gotten used to it. I suppose this is what empty-nest syndrome feels like.
When he does finally go, this place is going to feel very weird and quiet (until I find another for myself).
