So I'm sitting here, watching Certain Newsgroups go absolutely nuts over the release of DOOM 3 (which amuses me more than anything, since I'm not a big FPS fan) ... and remembering all those years ago when the first one came out, and the Net nearly ground to a halt for the better part of a day.

From the reviews, sounds more like Doom 1.1 than 3.0 as far as plot goes.

They could at least come up with an original story, as oppossed to a prettied up version. All the reviews I've read... m'eh. Monster jumps out, shoot monster, need monster level computer to see how kewl the graphics are. No thanks, I'll pass.

Heh. So now you know how I felt about the original. :)

Your choices are (a) wait a couple of years for the PC version, as I did; or (b) rent or borrow an X-box (I think Flex has one?).

God, I hated Doom. For about six months if I wanted to socialize with my friends I had to sit around and watch them shoot Hellspawn. It was soo fucking boring. Doom is actually why I made the rule about refusing to watch other people play video games.
