When I see ads for The Fast and the Furious (or, as some wag on Mr. Cranky put it, "Point Break with cars"), I can't help but wonder where are the movies where a criminal infiltrates the police department, only to be tempted by their lawful and rule-bound lifestyle (and by the Chief's hot daughter, of course).

Then I remember that most of the people who go to see these movies are teenage boys, which answers that question.

I disliked that movie immensely (as you no doubt remember, having been on chat with me while I was being forced by circumstance to be in the same room with it).

Why, then, do I have the strange desire to see the forthcoming movie from the same producer and same director, starring the same "actor"?

WHY DO I LIKE VIN DIESEL?!

Well it's not too bad....

xXx at least looked like it wasn't pretending to be anything but it was, and allowing a kind of almost negative style.

I'm just stunned they're so sure it's sequal material.

What would they call the sequel, though? yYy? Quadruple-X?

(Come to think of it, yYy might be a decent approximation of a lot of people's reactions... )

"YOU LIKE VIN DIESEL. YOU LOVE HIM. YOU CANNOT RESIST VIN DIESEL. TO RESIST IS HOPELESS. YOUR EXISTENCE IS MEANINGLESS WITHOUT VIN DIESEL."

In other words, check the street outside for any suspicious ice-cream trucks.
