My father is able to hold an extended conversation again, though he has to be reminded of things, and happier now that he's been allowed to resume his two chief vices, chocolate and tobacco. Ironically, he wasn't allowed to have the latter because he raised such a fuss while he was at the hospital that they gave him a patch. Then they discharged him later that day and I had to peel it off and wait at least 48 hours for the nicotine to pass out of his system before giving his pipe back, lest he become sick as a dog. So in the end, he traded less than a dozen hours for two more days. I would laugh a lot more if it didn't mean extra hassle for me.

Oh, and it's too darn hot here, again. (Anything over 80 is officially 'hot' in Oregon. You Southerners may snicker now.)

Also, I finally wrote to someone whose app for the squadron I've been waffling over for days if not weeks and laid all the cards on the table about why I'd been waffling, and then offered them a spot if they still wanted it it. One less thing to stress and guilt about.
