(I heard about it, appropriately enough, while playing CoH.)

There's that scene in the first movie, where Lois is getting her coat and he's thinking of telling her. He takes off his glasses, straightens up, his voice changes a bit... and for that moment, we see Superman wearing Clark Kent's clothes.

Then it ends, because even the Man of Steel chickens out at some things. But that's acting, and something that would be very hard to convey in a comic book. That part - along with his little secret smile at how dazzled she still is by his alter-ego - was all Reeve.

Though his career will forever be defined by that one role, I also liked him in Somewhere in Time. (The image of his character there, wasting away from grief and loss, is strong with me right now.) And his courage in real life, after an injury that would probably make me just give up, was inspirational.

It's sad that he didn't get to walk again. But someday, possibly soon, someone will. And it will be, at least in part, because of him.

I was going to post sometrhing along these lines, but you not only beat me to it, but said it with more eloquence than I can muster today.

What lethran said.

I tend to think of Somewhere in Time before Superman. But that has something to do with too many ballets choreographed around it and its themes when I was in high school... both by me and by Michael.

Rest well, Christopher. We will miss you.
