I watched the premiere of the new Twilight Zone last night. My reaction can be summarized as "Enh," mostly because there was almost nothing new about it. How many times have we seen "bad things happen to misfits in exclusive private community"? There's no surprise left in this ending. Likewise, the second segment - a by-the-numbers retread of the Death-Takes-A-Holiday story - lurches to a conclusion as inevitable as death itself.

A show that pretends to the legacy of Serling's masterwork should have at least a few ideas not seen before. (Perhaps these plots might have been fresh 35 years ago... but I doubt it.) I can only hope that the next episode will have stories that aren't so very familiar to most of its audience.

Ain't it the truth? Rehashes and sad "legacies" seem to be the norm these days. Despite having to turn off their fax machines because of angry fans and being panned by rabid TVGuide critics, SciFi has decided to go ahead with the cancellation of Farscape.

If you have the opportunity, see Odyssey 5 on Showtime. Best SF on.. and they seem to be doing time travel correctly... best to see it from the beginning, though.

Miss my family, I do. And ICQ is receiving messages from you but won't let me send them out.

I could tell from the start that it was purely a business decision, and nothing the fans said would make any difference. Back in the 60s, the campaign to save Trek was unprecedented; now, such write-ins are common, irrelevant, and/or constitute spam.

My question, Romilly m'dear, is when you're going to get an LJ of your own? Cherie and I both have one now. Join us... come on, you know you want to... ;)
