Someone on the Pyramid boards described the movie thusly:

"Cool special effects, lots of Wolverine action, way too many characters, and Phoenix really seemed to be in the movie for pretty much no reason. That, and it felt like they killed and 'cured' a decent chunk of the characters, only to see them coming back to life or have their powers return."

I replied,

"So, just like the comic, then."

Ouch.

Also painfully true.

Sad thing is, while I'm not gainsaying, it felt (for all that it was a decent movie. Decent, no more or less.) that the politics were too wide and broad over the movie. Not the politics of the world, but the politics of actor's contracts and writer/director's bias.

Wow. I know none of that. Is there a link you can point me to?

The gist is that a lot of the main actors signed a trilogy contract, and some didn't want to re-enlist for numbers 4 through n.
