My bike tried to kill me (or at least break my nose) as I was coming up the steps just now.

Near as I can figure it, instead of clearing the top step and the landing, the front tire bounced back and pushed the handlebar right into my snoot. A mostly-internal 'pop' or 'crack' at the moment of impact made me fear I'd broken my nose, my glasses, or both... but now that I've picked myself up and gotten into my room, and surveyed the damage in the mirror, it seems to be just some busted capillaries and maybe a little cartilage. It's not bleeding, just red and scratched.

A neighbor came to investigate my cry of "aw FUCK" and found me sitting on the stairs, getting my wits back and waiting for the tears to stop flowing (or the blood to start). Nice of him.

Looks like I'll be okay. *crosses fingers* Good, as I'd hate to ruin an otherwise wonderful day out with a serious injury. (More about the wonderful day in a little bit.)

It's probably worth having that checked by a doctor, just to make sure you didn't deviate your septum.

Oh no! That's horrible! Is it any better today?

Honestly, I don't blame your bike, I'd say it was the tricksy stairs. They've been known to undulate and lurch on occasion and have tripped up many a person. It's always the stairs. And then you look at them and they are sitting there all innocently, "What? What! Why are you looking at me? I'm just a flight of stairs!" Yeah, right. *narrows eyes*
