Were any unearthly hues observed?

More seriously, IIRC, there were records of heavy meteoric activity shortly before the plague hit China the first time.

I heard that on BBC World Service yesterday. It gets an added edge of surreality being read by a dry-voiced, utterly straight BBC presenter using Received Pronunciation.

OTOH, some fairly serious scientists believe that all life came to Earth that way, so, who knows?

You know, when you see a light behind the clouds at night you should first thing "the moon" and perhaps next "lighted blimp" and WAY down the list should be aliens in flying saucer.

Same thing here, the meteor could have impacted a sewage processing facility for all we know, which might make the surrounding population ill.
