In a universe where temporal loops and predestination paradoxes are known to exist, the Guardian of Forever's cryptic statement actually makes a fair amount of sense. Perhaps some far future culture has a need to set up an outpost at the other end of time, for whatever reason, and builds the Guardian with knowledge gained, at least in part, from studying the present one; or perhaps they simply transplant it, whole and entire, into the past.
