Does anyone know if it's normal for the free version of AVG to demand to be rebooted after every single daily update? I seem to recall that it didn't for the first few weeks; is this how they get you to upgrade, or am I just imagining it?

I suppose it's a trivial thing, but I liked having uptimes of more than 24 hours, and not having "Restart now?" nag screens in my face every day. Frankly, if it's gonna keep doing this, I may go back to McAfee.

It doesn't do that to me or to the Boy, so I don't think it's supposed to.

AVG has forced me to reboot only once in a rare blue moon. I suspect something's gotten stuck. Perhaps it's trying to replace a file that's in use and failing repeatedly? A completely uninstall/reinstall might clear it up then.

I think you're both right. Will reinstall tonight. Thanks.

Could just be you.
But if you dump AVG, try Avast! before jumping to McAfee.
