So this is what 1280x1024 looks like.
Cool. Might take some getting used to, though.

(My old CRT finally died, and I'm borrowing an LCD from my brother until I can get my own, probably comparable model.)

Also, today would have been Gygax's 70th. Here's to you (again), man.

You'll get used to it pretty soon, then anything less will feel too small.

(Says the person sitting at 1920x1200.)

If you want some recommendations on what to buy, I'm sure we can oblige if you provide a few more details on what you want.

Thanks, but after some flailing/failing at the problem, I've turned it over to my brother, who assures me he can get a good deal locally.

Not looking for anything fancy. Might just go with one of the 17" (same as I have now) that I'm told come stock with any Dell, and are often resold by those wanting to trade up.

The Dell LCDs are generally decent. Probably even worth keeping an eye on the website, sometimes they do massive discounts.

2560x1600 feels small after a while. I've had varying luck with dells, we lost a 22 inch dell after only about two weeks of use.
