Time for a change?
Nov. 6th, 2008 11:26 amShortly after the new President was elected (woo!), my computer finally succumbed to its recent problems (aww). At this time, I don't know if the HD was/is failing on a hardware level, or if errors in a 2.5 year old Windows install built upon themselves like weak points in a dam to bring the whole thing crashing down.
It matters, because if it's the latter, I should be all right after I complete the reinstall I'd been putting off since this last weekend. But if it's the former, I won't know until I load everything back up and it fails again.
A part of me is disinclined to go through that all over again, even if all of my data is or soon will be backed up; however, I worry that spending money on a new HD Just To Be Sure may be precipitous (especially with the whole "no income" thing). But on the gripping hand, I can't afford to spend too many more days dithering.
