bicycle woes
Dec. 3rd, 2008 10:00 amHad a nightmare that my bike was stripped down to the frame while locked up at the University, and I carried said frame while walking westward (in the general direction of a bike shop, to purchase replacement parts which I cannot afford) and wailing inconsolably. And then I woke up.
One would think that pedestrians on one of the busiest streets on campus, the section of 13th between Kincaid and the EMU, would notice someone doing a pit-crew strip on a locked-up bike in broad daylight. But subconscious anxiety knows no such logic.
Unfortunately, in the real world, my lack of a car might have cost me a job today. (I say "might" because I still could have failed the interview even if I'd gotten one.) My bike is a "reliable vehicle," and cheaper too; it just doesn't have the range or carrying capacity of an automobile.
*sigh*
