A tangled web of inspirations
Feb. 6th, 2009 10:49 amWatching the flashbacks to the First Cylon War (in the Razor "minisodes"), particularly where Lt. Adama's defending Columbia against Raiders, really makes me think of my time spent playing the X-wing games. I managed to save most of my capital ships, which is good, since that was usually the mission objective.
Of course, both the games - in whose sub-universe I immersed myself for a time, what with the novels and the fan squadron and our own "POV" fic - and Galactica itself, old more than new, were inspired by Star Wars. I'm not and never will be real military, let alone a fighter pilot... but sometimes, thirty years drops away and it's 1977 again, and I'm blasting TIEs and skimming down a trench in a borrowed T-65.
(Also, I miss our local BSG RPG campaign. That is all.)
