cmdr_zoomI still think that this is a fascinating (and quite plausible) interpretation of what "love" might mean in a society of immortals.
Consider that in real life, we humans came up with a kind of "love" which consists of picking out someone you could never ever be with and then very publicly and dramatically pining after them. (In the Middle Ages, this was known as courtly love; today, we call it being a fan.)
