The Network Decay of a certain channel that actually used to show science fiction (before the suits decided that was, you know, too unsexy) is finally complete.
As a female who is a geek and likes reading sci-fi I object to this quote "The name Sci Fi has been associated with geeks and dysfunctional, antisocial boys in their basements with video games and stuff like that, as opposed to the general public and the female audience in particular,” that makes me want to write in and complain.
The best part of course, is that syfy is Polish for the side effects of VD. But who's going to notice that? Certainly not 40,000,000 Poles or anyone with an internet connection.
I can see them wanting to address demographic drift by changing the name, or even the theme, of the channel, but one would've hoped that their marketing people could've done better than that thinking up a replacement. Almost every day, I find, I'm forced to add at least one person to the list of people who shouldn't be getting paid as much as they are...
