Apr. 9th, 2010 08:13 amFor at least the last decade or so, the old joke about computer cases - "any color you want, as long as it's beige" - has definitely swung to "as long as it's black." Which brings it back full circle to the original joke about Ford(s). Every time I go to a LAN party, I'm surrounded by rows of little Monoliths.
I understand why - a combination of black being a "cool", "manly" color and how it goes with everything (c.f. "little black dress"), in both personal and professional environments - but the near-monoculture still bothers me a little.

Date: 2010-04-09 04:14 pm (UTC)Besides, you must admit that Apple's industrial design has been similarly monochromatic, all the way back to the ][, IIc and Mac (with the significant anomalies of the iMac and iPod Nano). They've even gotten rid of the rainbow stripes their logo used to have.
