That was interesting
Apr. 19th, 2010 07:56 amJust had a couple of very intense dreams about combat cyborgs in what I think was the Firefly 'verse. Very industrial gladiator, Robot Wars chic - strong emphasis on melee weapons and power tools. Chainsaws and hydraulic steel "jaws" at the end of arms, etc. Lots of hot-rod paint jobs, almost everyone a one-off custom.
One bit involved a raid on a facility that was making lots of borgs, possibly a more advanced production model with gun-arms and all. A doctor/tech involved in the early stages of modification is rescued (from our heroes) by former subjects who've been further enhanced, and offers them sodas (I was seeing Pepsi) in congratulation - what the captured heroes guess in time to duck, but he doesn't, is that the sugar and caffiene pushes their already finely-balanced and overclocked metabolisms out of whack, and they go berserk. Oops.
The very beginning was, in hindsight, rather surreal... there was a Six accompanying the group. (She IS dating Fillion, after all, or was; I read that about them co-starring in Halo ODST.) Her response to the crew coming under fire was to efficiently and not-quite-at-superspeed knock everyone down who wasn't already going prone and taking cover. I can certainly see River doing that, so I wonder why my brain served up Tricia Helfer instead of Summer Glau. (I prefer the latter.)
