I hadn't read Pern, Amber, or Harry Potter until I had to for games.
Whereupon I sat down and read them straight through.

The first three Pern books are good, once you get over the fact that they're bodice ripper romances. The Harper trilogy is interesting as a different perspective on the events of the first three. Forget everything else.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that Amber is just okay, but that's because Zelazny was a much better short story author than he was with long form.

I'm going to go further out on that limb over Harry Potter. I've read 4 of the books. I have no plans to continue. Not because they're bad (they're not). I just found them to be meh.
