The apartment I'm moving to will not be available this weekend. It's still being cleaned, and the agency won't give me a key, even just to move my stuff.
They might be able to give me a key on Monday.
I have to be out of my current apartment by the 1st. Period.

Looks like I have to ask my boss for a day off.

EDIT: Wednesday the 31st, with the movers arriving sometime in the early afternoon (they have another job that day, not surprisingly; I don't have too much stuff, fortunately). And the rental agency says it should be ready by then. (It kind of has to be, yes?)

Appreciated, but I decided to go the pro route this time. The last time I moved was some 8 years ago, and I am even more out of shape now; it became clear early on that family wasn't going to be able to help as much, for various reasons, so rather than impose on my brother* I decided to do this like an adult and hire someone.

*other than for boxes, which his job in the recycling industry provides him with by the ton.
