That series of descending trills I started hearing about a minute ago, and which I feared might be the first indication of a computer fan bearing going bad, was in fact birdsong.

Of course, the birdsong indicates that it's dawn. Which is worse, the possibility of a fan going out or the certainty that I'm up way too late (early)?
