This afternoon's fit of angst and "well, I'll just cut myself off from everyone, then" was a result of events at work, today and recently. An afternoon conversation with a co-worker about how phone messages should be taken ended up revealing that some people (including my own boss, who really counts) have been dissatisfied with some of my work lately, and that - along with the contrast between what I knew, and what is apparently being said - sent me into a tailspin of self-doubt. How can I fix things? Can they be fixed? How do I know anything is real? (You know, just the usual existential workplace issues.)

As you can see, my first reaction was basically, "Okay, let's not do anything that I can be blamed for, ever again. Oh, you're already working on that on the personal side? Good. Keep it up."

Napped. Still groggy and uncertain - about what to do for the rest of the evening, and everything else.

Ask what the problem is, you can't fix something if you don't know how it's broken.

As for personal life, join [livejournal.com profile] naudiz and me in our world: people should worry wether or not we like them, not if they like us.

I live in a similar world as Naudiz and Biomekanic now. :)

I agree, though, if you don't know what's broken, you can't fix it. Remember also that attorneys are notoriously difficult to work for (I should know, eh!)... he's been happy so far, ask him if something's changed, and what.

As for taking yourself out of anything you could be blamed for, you're just asking for more trouble that way... Then you'll be blamed for NOT doing. Much much better just to take responsibility for your own life, and what you want to do in it, and go your merry little way.

Biomekanic, do I know you? or are you someone who joined the little Eugene group after I left?

He and his lady [livejournal.com profile] sbloss moved to Eugene from Colorado recently. I met them through Karrin and Pol, the soon-to-be-hitched.
