Even though I went to bed early Friday night, I still didn't want to get up at (for me, the sinfully early hour of) 8 a.m on Saturday morning. But I did, and met my friends [livejournal.com profile] naudiz, [livejournal.com profile] pjack, [livejournal.com profile] biomekanic and [livejournal.com profile] sbloss downtown in front of the tea salon to watch the Eugene Celebration parade. Highlights included a jogger who lapped the course at least four times and a marcher in the Democratic Party group carrying the sign "Re-Elect Gore in 2004". Ouch.

Pol was still talking about a leisurely hike (walk) up Spencer's Butte, but the rest of us were much more interested in breakfast, so we went over to the Gateway Dennys, where the food was all right but the service somewhat lacking. (Michael never did get his grits.) We then parted ways, so I could go home for a few hours while they went shopping.

I really should remember that I can't just take a single hour's nap, no matter how much I need it. When my alarm went off, my body whined: "But you said I could have more sleep! You promised!" Fortunately, I was only a half-hour late to the Hogwarts game, which was a wonderful evening of pure roleplaying and character development. (There was also some great pie, courtesy of Deirdre in absentia.) I'm really looking forward to the next session this Friday.

Sunday, I again slept "early" and got up in plenty of time for our group's usual noon tea, the second time we'd been to Savoure this weekend. Alas, they were out of the kind of hot chocolate I like, so I just had the scones. Then it was back to my place to get ready for my boss' wedding. I didn't realize it was that far out of town, but my first estimate - that it would take me about an hour of bike-riding to get there - was quite accurate. I set a good pace and arrived neither sweaty nor winded. The weather was perfect: sunny, yet breezy. I sat with a co-worker and her husband at the reception and enjoyed a fine buffet. Afterwards there was wine, music and dancing, but I didn't partake of any of those. I mingled with the bride's family, then said my goodbyes and rode home as the sun was setting (stopping at Trader Joe's along the way to get some juice and other treats).

And I don't have to go into work tomorrow... well, I'll probably check in, but officially I'm on two weeks vacation while my boss and his bride are on their honeymoon in Jamaica. Excellent.

I have a dinner engagement Friday. Since we usually play on Saturday nights, I thought it would be safe to commit to this last month. *even heavier sigh* Your game would be much more fun, but I've made a commitment. I really wish I had one of those time charms like Hermione. That way I could squeeze in all I want to do. Phooey on time restrictions anyhow! Thbbbttt!

Just a note: I'll be gone in AU from the 6th to the 20th. Obviously, gaming is out of the question those weeks. I have next week to possibly see you, then it won't be until we are back from AU. I'll probably need to sleep for a couple of days after that, but I'll be sooooo happy to be home and see my family again that I want to make sure I see you all that week I return. Family love and support is good for the soul.
