When I watch Star Trek II lately, I find myself wondering why, if beaming over to stop the Genesis Device isn't an option, why they don't just beam the GD itself into the nebula, wide-dispersal. (That oughta stop it from going off.) But then, I remember the essential nature of transporter technology: it works fine for putting actors into the scene instantly, but when it could be useful for anything else, it suddenly and mysteriously does not. Or works once, and then that application is never mentioned again.

And for the record, I'm not just sitting here being geeky; I'm also doing laundry and cleaning the living room, after going out shopping to fill the kitchen cupboards today. So there.
