That went well (not)

cmdr_zoomPredictably, opening up the computer to find out which fan was making the noise, and then unscrewing the CPU fan to clean it and the cooling fins, has made it MORE noisy (even though, as far as I can tell, it's all screwed down nice and tight).
Ah well. Tomorrow my brother's coming over with a can of air, to finish the job, and we'll see what we can do then.
Go me.
Update, 3:26 a.m.: Sounds like, in the process of running, it's finally worked itself into a position where it's just making a quiet hum again. Good.
