Old-Fashioned Hamburgers
Dec. 29th, 2013 11:06 amWhen I was down by 29th and Willamette the other day, shopping at the Market of Choice, I discovered that the Wendy's I worked at some twenty years ago was closed, dark and empty. Unlike some stories I've heard of other places, working there didn't turn me off the food forever; that I haven't been back there in some years (I couldn't tell you exactly how many) was just a matter of chance and habit. It wasn't a great job, but it was a job, it was there when I needed one, and I learned some stuff from it and got my share of cheap/free food.
So here's to my time flipping burgers - to my managers (Eric, Frank, Kathy, Leila, and Mike), and to all the co-workers that came and went. Here's to the singles with cheese, the fries and the Frosties, and the bane of my existence, the salad bar.

I guess it's sort of a fast food expression of the circle of life.
(They did a similar thing to the McDonald's here in West Podunk a couple summers ago. Ripped it down, built a brand-new, much smaller one. I guess it finally occurred to someone that this shitkicker town doesn't really require a 120-seat McDonald's. :)
